Five hundred million years ago, the southern hemisphere land masses of today were all part of one supercontinent called Gondwana. Then, around 180 million years ago Gondwana began to split, but scientists have disagreed on exactly how. A new computer model claims Gondwana’s huge weight caused it to crack in two.
