Emergency workers in China have been rescuing people from collapsed buildings after yesterday’s earthquake but time is running out.
Around 12,000 people are thought to have died but close to twice that number are trapped in debris or unaccounted for.
Along shattered roads legions of survivors have been making their way out of the disaster zone.
The 7.8 magnitude tremor struck in Sichuan province in the early afternoon and was felt as far away as Beijing and Thailand.
