The white marble and sloping roofline of Oslo’s new opera house is supposed to bring to mind icebergs floating in the fjord. The wood of the interior meanwhile was crafted by local boatbuilders. This is a huge project for the city, hailed as the most important new cultural building in Norway since Trondheim cathedral was finished in the 14th century.
