Researchers at the Israel Institute of Technology have come up with a novel way of producing cheap electricity, thanks to giant solar balloons. The balloons are covered with thin solar panals and connected via a cable to an inverter on the ground, the balloons then take to the sky. The balloons are made from a durable material, filled with helium and insulated with silicone to prevent leakage allowing them to remain airborne for as long as a year.
