London’s Camden market damaged by major fire

world news

Insurance assessors will begin raking through the ashes of a large part of Camden Market today, after a massive fire overnight. No one is reported to have been injured in the blaze but it is feared the damage is extensive.

The fire started as the world famous market was closing on Saturday evening. At one point it was feared shoppers were trapped inside the covered buildings.

At the height of the flames, 100 fire-fighters were trying to stop them spreading to the nearby high street, which was packed with clubs and bars. Camden Town is a trendy nightspot attracting hundreds of thousands of people every weekend. The seat of the fire is thought to have been in a storage area behind the main market.
