Danone wants to end Wahaha dispute

French food group Danone is trying to end the long-running dispute with its Chinese joint venture partner Hangzhou Wahaha. Danone has offered to drop all legal actions against Wahaha if it enters into serious negotiations to settle their differences.

Emmanuel Faber, President of Danone Asia Pacific Group said they just want end the squabbling: “We have offered, and we are offering to suspend all proceedings should negotiations on reunifying the Wahaha Beverage Group as a single entity finally start under appropriate authority’s governance.”

Danone has accused Wahaha of setting up parallel operations selling sell Wahaha-branded products such as soft drinks and bottled water outside of their joint venture.
