Donald Tusk has been sworn in as Poland’s new prime minister by his political rival, the president. But Lech Kaczynski’s twin brother Jaroslaw was noticeable by his absence. He lost the premiership to Tusk in last month’s parliamentary elections. Tusk’s centre-right Civic Platform party has formed a coalition with the smaller Polish Peasants’ Party. Its leader Waldemar Pawlak has been given the economy portfolio and a deputy prime minister’s role. The key foreign minister’s job goes to Radoslaw Sikorski, a former Oxford University student and holder of a British passport.
