Airbus engine test goes horribly wrong

It was supposed to be a straight forward engine test of an Airbus 340-600 aircraft in Toulouse in southern France. Instead ten people were hurt, three of them seriously, when the plane crashed into an anti-noise barrier.

An Airbus spokesman said: “There was a test which involved the plane applying all of its power to its engines. For this the plane was immobilised, but for an unknown reason it became mobile.”

The company is investigating what went wrong during the testing of the plane, which was due to be delivered to an Abu Dhabi-based airline.
