Pervez army HQ rocked by deadly suicide blast

At least seven people have died in a suicide bomb attack close to the army headquarters of Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf. Three policemen and three passersby were among those killed, while 11 people were wounded in the blast in Rawalpindi.

The bomber is said to have detonated his device when challenged by police officers on a road leading to the military base. General Musharraf was in his office some two kilometres away and was not hurt. Suicide and roadside bomb attacks on security forces have multiplied since July when commandos stormed a mosque in Islamabad used by an anti-government Taliban-style movement.
