A new era for Argentina but one which promises more of the same. Cristina Fernandez Kirchner has vowed to stick with much of the same policies as her husband after she was elected to replace him as President and become the country’s first female leader. Nestor Kirchner is credited with bringing economic stability and growth to the country after several years of chaos. “I hope we will all have something to hope for,” said one voter.
But not everyone was positive: “I will continue working, they will continue governing and the corrupt will remain corrupt,” said one man. Fernandez won with a huge majority, avoiding the need for a run-off ballot. With such a big vote of confidence from the country, she will now be expected to deliver.
