A new Armed Forces Memorial has been officially opened in Staffordshire in Britain, attended by members of the royal family and the government. The nine-million euro memorial honours soldiers killed on and off the battlefield, and also in terrorist attacks. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Doctor Rowan Williams, led the ceremony.

He said: “Some of them have died in heroic circumstances, some in tragedy and conflict, some in routine duties, but all of them as parts of a single, great and generous enterprise.”
