At least 25 people have died after a cargo plane crashed in a crowded neighbourhood in Kinshasa, the capital of Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Antonov 26, belonging to the Congolese airline Africa One, came down in the shanty town of Kingasani, near the international airport, shortly after take off. Africa One is on the European Union’s blacklist of unsafe airlines.
Air travel is notoriously dangerous in Congo. In 1995 at least 350 people died when a cargo plane ploughed through a market in the city centre.
