Kaczynski tribute to Katyn massacre victims

Poland’s President has payed tribute to the tens of thousands of Polish prisoners of war executed by Soviet secret police in the notorious Katyn massacre. In his first visit to Russia as president, Lech Kaczynski urged people to honour the victims of what he called a “genocide”.

But he insisted that the leaders and people of today’s Russia cannot be held responsible for these acts. The memorial was held on the 68th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s 1939 invasion of eastern Poland.
