Sunday should be a day of rest and reflection. That was the message from Pope Benedict in Austria today. He said Sunday was intended as a day dedicated to God, not leisure activities, to celebrate the creation of an earth which he now sees in moral and physical danger.
“Mass this morning was a wonderful way to celebrate the Lord’s day,” the Pope told his audience. “St Stephen’s Cathedral here in Vienna is marvellous. It was a dignified mass allowing us to fully appreciate the grandeur of the gift God has given us, all together, feeling God’s joy”.
