Italian opera star Luciano has died. He had been suffering from cancer. The 71-year-old tenor had been cared for over his final days at home in Modena. The singer is thought to have been suffering from kidney failure. Family and friends travelled to his villa to be at his bedside. Pavarotti was released from hospital in Modena on August the 25th after undergoing more than two weeks of tests and treatment.
The italian media said cancer specialists had been treating him at home ever since his condition worsened in hospital. Hailed by many as the greatest tenor of his generation, Pavarotti underwent surgery in July 2006 for pancreatic cancer.
