The mother of missing British four-year old Madeleine McCann has been interviewed alone by Portuguese police investigating the disappearance. Madeleine’s father, Gerry, is expected to do the same tomorrow. Investigators say the couple, who have been previously answered police questions together, are to be formally interviewed as witnesses and not suspects.
Madeleine went missing from a holiday apartment in Praia Da Luz in the Algarve on May 3. Meanwhile, Portuguese police have received forensic evidence that has spent the last month under analysis in Britain. The samples are thought to contain specks of blood taken from the apartment.
The McCanns have been based in Praia Da Luz since their daughter’s disappearance but have travelled across Europe to raise and maintain awareness of the case. Authorities in the Algarve have just one official suspect, a 33-year old British ex-pat.
