US President George Bush says he’s been told the security situation in Iraq can be maintained even with fewer troops. He was speaking on a surprise visit to Anbar province in Iraq. Bush said any move to reduce forces’ levels would be based on solely military grounds. He addressed troops after meeting General David Petraeus, the commander of US troops in Iraq, for a final review of the war before a showdown in Congress over the number of soldiers serving in Iraq.
