The Wild West came to Venice with the premiere of Brad Pitt’s new film about the fabled US outlaw, Jesse James. “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” has an impressive title and, at 155 minutes, is one of the longest films in the running for the film festival’s coveted Golden Lion Award.

Pitt portrays James as a man tired of life on the run, who foresees that his end is nigh and appears to hasten his death as a way of escape.

The Hollywood star was joined in Venice by his partner, actress Angelina Jolie, and their four children.
