The curtain has been raised at the 13th Sarajevo Film Festival, one of the biggest events of its kind in the Balkans. An international cast including Steve Buschemi, Juliette Binoche and Jeremy Irons were at the opening ceremony. Irons leads the jury that will decide which film receives the ‘Heart of Sarajevo’ award.

In the running is the Macedonian picture “I am from Titov Veles.” Director Anthony Minghella rekindles his working relationship with Juliette Binoche after “The English Patient” with “Breaking and Entering”, which also stars Jude Law. The festival will close with Michael Moore’s critique of the US health service, “Sicko”.
