US President George W Bush and Afghan President Hamid Karzai meet at the presidential retreat of Camp David. Bush is under pressure to bring in senior al Qaeda operatives including Osama bin Laden believed to be holed-up in Pakistan.
“ I am confident with actionable intelligence we will be able to bring top al Qaeda to justice, constant communications with the Pakistan government. It is in their interest that foreign fighters be brought to justice.” said Bush.
President Karzai is expected to meet Pakistani President on Pervez Musharraf on August the 9th. “We will also be discussing the possible outcome of the joint jirga between the two countries and how effectively then we can carry on the fight against terrorism in both countries and in the region as a result of the jirga.”
Meanwhile both men agreed the Taliban should get no concessions for the release of 21 Korean hostages. The kidnappers have killed two of the original 23 captured and are demanding the release of Taliban prisoners in exchange.
