A 48-year old father and his 21-year old son have died after an accident on a fairground ride in Paris. The youngest victim’s brother and uncle were also seriously injured when the four-seater cabin they were sitting in crashed to the ground after becoming detached from the main structure. A local official said a mechanical fault caused part of the ride to snap. The ride is made up of two giant mechanical arms that swing round at speeds of up to 90 kilometers per hour. The two passengers in the opposite cabin were cut free uninjured after being stuck for six hours 36 meters above the ground. A manager at the “Fête des Loges” fairground said the ride had passed a recent safety test.
