The European Commission has announced four million Euros additional aid for the Palestinian refugees who fled the Nahr al-Bared camp in northern Lebanon. Half a million Euros was already made available by the European Commission to help those refugees displaced when fighting broke out at Nahr al-Bared over two months ago. Two hundred people including one hundred twenty eight soldiers died in the conflict. This was the highest death toal in Lebanon since the end of the country’s civil war in nineteen ninety. More than thirty-one thousand refugees have fled the fighting provoked by the Islamic Fatah faction. People living near the refugee camp were also affected by the clashes. European Commissioner for humanitarian aid Louis Michel says it is time to end the violence, find peace, and re-build the infrastructure.
