The final official results will be published in a few days but Turkish media have issued preliminary figures with 99.9 percent of the ballots counted. The AK Party’s vote share has jumped from around 34 percent in 2002 to over 46 percent. The CHP was up only slightly while the nationalist MHP was up to 14 from 8 percent.
In terms of seats, the AKP lose some despite getting more votes but will still dominate parliament with 339 out of 550 seat. The MHP will have 71 after having none 5 years ago.
Of the 28 independants in parliament, 24 are expected to come under the umbrella of the pro-Kurdish DTP.
