More UK terror coming, says al-Qaeda No.2

The second in command of al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, has released an audio message on the internet threatening further terror attacks on Britain. He said al-Qaeda had noted the recent knighthood of writer Salman Rushdie, and it was “preparing a precise response”.

Rushdie angered many in the Muslim world with what was considered a blasphemous protrayal of the prophet Mohammed in his 1989 book “The Satanic Verses”. Iran’s ruler at the time, Ayatollah Khomenei, condemned him to death in a Fatwa, or binding Islamic law, stating that it was every true Muslim’s duty to seek Rushdie’s death.
