A further two suspects have been arrested by police investigating the failed bomb attacks in London and Glasgow. A total of seven people are now being held, including the badly injured driver and passenger of a burning jeep that was rammed into Glasgow airport.
Police suspect two car bombs defused in London are linked to the Glasgow attack. Detectives have refused to reveal the identities of those arrested. However, British media have named two of them as foreign doctors. The cabinet minister in charge of internal security Jacqui Smith told parliament: “Terrorism is a serious threat to us all. We must ensure our resources, capability and legislation support our common endeavour to defend the shared values of this country from terror.”
Vehicles have been banned from getting too close to airports and other transport hubs and security has been stepped up at crowded places across the country. Searches have been taking place in numerous centres, and police say they are confident there will be further arrests.
