Five people are now under arrest in Britain in connection with the suspected terrorist incidents in Glasgow and London. But police believe a key suspect is still at large. They say they now have numerous clues as well as very useful cctv footage. One man remains critical in hospital with burns after driving a flaming vehicle into the front of Glasgow airport.

Four others are being questioned after arrests in Liverpool and Cheshire. A house has been raided near Glasgow. The British media are reporting that two of the arrested suspects, a man and woman, are foreign doctors working in a UK hospital.

The latest developments will be outlined by the British Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith, later today: “I will be addressing Parliament to update them and outline the government’s response, but I call on the British people to remain vigilant.”

The critical alert level has seen a number of security incidents in the UK over the weekend. Police carried out a controlled explosion on a car at the Scottish hospital where the injured suspect is being treated. The British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has blamed the incidents on an al-Qaeda cell.
