A collision between two trains on the Italian island of Sardinia has left three people dead. Police say a British woman and two Italians died and several other people were wounded. The crash happened in the central province of Nuoro, between the towns of Bortigali and Birori.
The driver of one of the trains is among those killed. The other driver was badly hurt. An investigation is underway into the cause of the accident, but already the police are saying it was the result of human error. Emergency services say it was difficult to reach the scene of the crash because it was in a remote mountainous area.
