George W. Bush, after leaving the G8 summit in Germany, headed for Poland for talks with his Polish counterpart Lech Kaczynski on a planned missile shield to be based in the country. Poland has agreed in principal to the siting of the 10 US interceptor missiles within its borders and the two nations are currently negotiating details of the deal. After the discussions, Bush then left for Rome for talks with Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi and the Pope, arriving with wife Laura a few hours later.
