Beirut has been rocked again by a bomb blast this time in the Christian industrial area north of the Lebanese capital. One person was killed and four others were injured. Security sources say an explosive charge was placed near or under a car causing a fire and extensive damage.
It is the fifth explosion since May 20 when Lebanese troops and the al Qaeda-inspired militants known as the Fatah al-Islam group began battles at a Palestinian refugee camp. The militants have vowed to take their fight to other areas of Lebanon and beyond. But earlier two members of Lebanon’s Islamic Action Front went to the Nahr al-bared camp to try and persuade the group to surrender.
