Bolivia expects Castro comeback next week

world news

| |

Fidel Castro is preparing to resume presidential duties on Tuesday, according to his Bolivian counterpart. Evo Morales says although he has not had any contact with the Cuban leader, he’s been reliably informed that Castro will return to office to govern on May 1.

Castro temporarily handed over control of the Cuban government in July to his brother, Raul, as he was submitted to hospital for surgery. His condition and exact illness remain state secrets, but he is believed to suffer from what’s known as diverticular disease, which can cause inflammation and bleeding in the colon.
