The Iraqi prime minister has stepped into the row over a wall meant to protect a Sunni enclave in Baghdad. Speaking in Cairo, Nouri al-Maliki said he had ordered construction of the US-built wall to be stopped.

The wall, which was planned to be five kilometres long, is supposed to protect the Sunni enclave of Azamiya from Shiites in neighbouring districts. It is being seen as divisive.
