world news

| |

Thousands of Christian pilgrims from around the world have gathered at holy sites in Jerusalem to celebrate Easter.

Protestants celebrated the Morning of Easter Sunday with a sunrise service at the Garden Tomb which they believe is the place where Jesus was buried.

In the Iraqi capital Baghdad, thousands of Christians attended mass.

Christians have inhabited what is modern day Iraq for about 2,000 years, tracing their ancestry to ancient Mesopotamia and surrounding lands.

Today, they are estimated to number between half a million and 800,000.
