Airbus flies to US on sales push

world news

| |

Two Airbus A380 planes have made their first flight to the United States in a bid to break the American market. The first left without passengers from Toulouse, headed for Los Angeles, while the second, flying from Frankfurt to New York had around 500 people on board. The test runs hope to prove the planes’ ground-handling and manoeuvrability, as well as their in-flight dining and entertainment services.

A good showing is vital for Airbus as it hopes to break Boeing’s dominance of the US market. Production delays have already cost the company up to six billion euros. Orders have started to take off in Europe and Asia. Bosses, having been forced into job cuts, will now be keen for the same across the Atlantic.
