Apparent suicide bomber strikes in Casablanca

world news

| |

There has been a fatal explosion at an internet cafe in Casablanca in Morocco. The government says a man carrying explosives under his clothes was blown up and three other people were wounded. Officials say they are still investigating whether it was a militant suicide bombing. A man claimed to have been trying to flee the scene has been arrested.

They say the man blown up had been in the middle of a dispute with the cafe’s owner. Morocco has been on high alert after a string of bomb attacks last month in neighbouring Algeria. The blast was in a suburb of the city which was home to 13 suicide bombers who killed 32 people in Casablanca in 2003.
