Pleading for their lives, two German hostages have been threatened with murder by a little-known Iraqi militant group unless Germany withdraws its troops from Afghanistan.

61 year old Hannelore Krause and her son were kidnapped in Iraq at the beginning of February.

The so-called Arrows of Righteousness posted a video of the pair on the internet. In it, a masked spokesman said Germany was annihilating fellow muslims in Afghanistan, and smiling at them in Iraq.

Germany opposed the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
