Asian stocks have fallen heavily as investors prepare for another uncertain week on the global stock markets. Japan’s Nikkei index closed 3.4 percent lower-its biggest one-day fall in nine months-while Shanghai’s composite index suffered a 3.5 percent drop. In Taiwan shares fell 3.7 percent while the major Indian market also lost 3.6 percent.
Last week a slump in Chinese stocks and fears of a slowdown saw the biggest sell-off in more than four years. The European markets have followed suit with London, Madrid , Paris, Zurich and Frankfurt opening down. Analysts say volatility is likley to continue.
