Dozens of people have been arrested in Copenhagen after clashes between police and protesters. The trouble broke out after officers raided a building – that had been used as a youth centre – to evict squatters.
A man who lives in the area says the raid itself was over very quickly. “Helicopters flew in at treetop height and police vans broke through barricades,” he said.
The conflict over the youth centre has been simmering since 2000 when local government sold the building to a religious group. Left-wing activists have been using the centre as a base since 1982.
