Elite walz into Vienna for Opera Ball

world news

| |

Tiaras and tuxedo were the order of the day as Vienna revelled in the highpoint of its social calender last night. The annual Opera Ball draws around 5,000 people from around the world.

The extravaganza captivates the nation – it is broadcast live on television and tickets sell out months in advance. But, with an entry fee of more than 200 euros and extras including lavish costumes, flowers and champagne, it is definitely an event for the well-heeled.
