Anna Nicole Smith, the former Playboy model and actress, has died after collapsing in a hotel room in Florida. The exact cause of death remains unclear. Smith was still mourning her 20-year-old son who died last year in her hospital room where she had given birth to a daughter three days earlier. The 39-year-old’s state of health had been the subject of intense media speculation recently over fluctuating weight gain and loss.
She was found unconscious in her hotel room but medics were unable to revive her. The Texas native was perhaps as famous for her flamboyant lifestyle as her modelling. In 1995 she married 95-year-old billionaire J Howard Marshall II. She spent much of the past decade fighting family members for a share of his estate.
Smith, whose real name was Vickie Lynnn Hogan, shot to fame after appearing in Playboy magazine in 1993. It led to several minor film roles and lucrative modelling contracts.
