French diplomat killed in the Ivory Coast

world news

A French diplomat working for the European Union has been found shot dead at his home in Abidjan, the economic capital of the Ivory Coast. Michel Niaucel, 53, was head of staff security at the European Commission’s regional delegation in the West African state.

Sources close to the investigation say he was shot with his own pistol. Initial inquiries appear to rule out a possible suicide and there are no signs of a break-in at his apartment, in a highly secure EU block. Niaucel lived there with his wife and daughter.
