A court in Munich has issued 13 arrest warrants against suspected members of the CIA implicated in the kidnapping of a German citizen of Lebanese origin. Khaled al-Masri was abducted in late 2003 in Macedonia while visiting the country. He was then handed over to American intelligence, which spirited him away to Afghanistan.

He was imprisoned there, and al-Masri says he was beaten and harassed before being released five months later without being charged with any crime. The suspected CIA operatives have been charged with denial of freedom and grievous bodily harm.
