Arrest warrants issued in German "rendition" case

A court in Germany has ordered the arrest of 13 people, including suspected CIA agents, accused of kidnapping and torturing a German national. Lebanese born Khaled el-Masri says he was abducted in Macedonia in December 2003 and held until May 2004 in Afghanistan.

Senior prosecutor in Munich, August Stern, gave more details about the arrest warrants that have been issued: “We’re talking about 13 people suspected of having kidnapped el-Masri in January 2004 on a flight from Skopje to Kabul. Some of those people are part of the flight crew and others belong to the so-called rendition team, in other words the kidnapping team.”

The list of suspects is reported to have been put together with the help of a Swiss politician who investigated the claims of secret CIA flights for the Council of Europe.
