Around 20 people have been killed in the latest in a series of bomb attacks targeting civilians in Baghdad. The blast tore through the shopping district of Karanda in the centre of the Iraqi capital. It was one of several deadly explosions around the city during the day. The bombings come as the government is preparing to launch a new security plan aimed at stemming sectarian violence in the capital, but since it was announced this month there has been no let-up in the bloodshed.
