Sign language cafe a huge success in Madrid

There are few places in the world where a cafe is a quiet place.

Paris has its own deaf cafe and now so does Madrid.

There is very little noise and almost no communication problems – everyone here speaks the same language, sign language.

For Maria Angeles, that makes everything a lot easier:

“I really feel at home here, there are no misunderstanding. If you need a waiter you just press the light on the table.”

The bar is not meant to be just a watering hole for the deaf or hard of hearing.

The doors of El Cafe de los Signos are open to all who want to chat or enjoy its small theatre performances.
