Viewers will now be able to watch euronews across the United States

At a ceremony in New York, the channel’s President announced EuroNews would be broadcast across the country on Dish TV Echostar. Echostar is one of America´s two major satellite tv platforms. Already, EuroNews reaches over one hundred and eighty nine million households in one hundred and twenty one countries worldwide by cable, digital satellite and terrestrial distribution. Director of News Luis Rivas said the channel focussed not just on European institutions but on a wide variety of issues important to Europe’s many member states.

“We are talking about countries in Europe, their problems. For example, who is talking about the end of the welfare state in Sweden, the reform in Germany, the possible split in Belgium and the problem of abortion which will be voted in Portugal.”

Three point five million viewers watch EuroNews each day via cable and satellite and three point one million via terrestrial broadcasts. It also goes out on high speed internet networks and mobile phone platforms.
