Iraqi media is reporting that Saddam Hussein’s half- brother and a former judge in his regime have been executed. The two were condemned along with Saddam in November. Some news agencies are quoting officials as saying there has been a deliberate attempt at a news blackout.
This to avoid the controversy that erupted after the execution of Saddam Hussein 16 days ago. There had been sectarian taunts just before he was hanged and unofficial images of the death were distributed on the Internet, then played on TV channels. The UN urged Iraq to reconsider further death sentences.
