ETA bomb was meant to cause maximum damage

Police investigating the December 30 car-bombing at Madrid’s Barajas airport say a highly powerful mixture of Nitrate based explosives, normally employed for military purposes, was used in the attack. After examining 600 cars and taking over 200 samples for forensic analysis, they say the aim of the bombers was obviously to cause as much widespread destruction as possible. It is still not known the exact quantity of material used but some estimates claim it could be nearly as much as 800 kilos.
