Growing calls for release of photograher in Gaza

There are increasing calls for the release of a Peruvian photographer kidnapped in Gaza. French photographers and journalists have gathered outside the offices of the French news agency AFP, for which Jaime Razuri worked.

The agency’s news director, Denis Hiault, had this to say about Razuri, abducted by four gunmen on January 1:

“Jaime was doing his job in the Gaza strip, and it’s so important that journalists can continue to operate in that part of the world, despite the danger, despite the situation.”

So far there has been no contact with the kidnappers. However, most of the journalists and foreigners abducted in Gaza in recent years have been released unharmed. It is reported Razuri has a heart condition, for which he needs regular medication.
