British police fear a serial killer is on the loose in eastern England after finding the bodies of three prostitutes over the past nine days. Two other prostitutes have also gone missing and police are now warning sex workers to stay off the streets.
Police say the naked bodies of the three women were lying within miles of each other in the port town of Ipswich. It’s believed none had been sexually assaulted.
A member of the public came across the third body – that of an unnamed 24-year-old woman – on Sunday. he authorities can’t formally link that discovery to the other two murders but they say there are striking similarities between them.
Police found the corpses of 19-year-old Tania Nicol and 25-year-old Gemma Adams in the same stretch of water on Friday.
The two had been friends and worked in the same red-light district. The murders raise memories of the so-called Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe, who killed thirteen women – mainly prostitutes – in northern England in the late 1970s.
The authorities are calling on sex workers to come forward with information.
