The sit-in by opposition forces in the Lebanese capital of Beirut has entered an eighth day. The protest against the government by Hezbollah factions is set to escalate after more than a week of flag-waving and finger-pointing. It has had no effect on Prime Minister Siniora who has refused to leave office.

Now, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has made a scathing attack on the government. accusing it being behind Israel’s month-long war on Hezbollah forces in July and interfering with supply lines. The government has denied the charges. In a demonstration of Muslim unity the Hezbollah leader has arranged for the protesters traditional Friday prayers to be led by an anti-government cleric.
